The Long Man of Wilmington is one of the most recognisable South Downs sights. Visible from the A27 into Eastbourne (and from lots of Downland paths) it is an ancient chalk figure which stands guard over the surroundings with silent splendour.

This modern interpretation of a famous view has a story of its own as in the field in the foreground another man works the land, as farmers have for centuries. We call him the Strong Man of Wilmington in honour of his toil and the nearby giant who watches over.
